Every year, the Federation Gay-Lussac sends out a questionnaire into the employability of recent graduates from their 20 chemistry and process engineering graduate schools.
72% of students responded and this enabled us to have an excellent idea of what happens to these young engineers after they graduate.
The future of FGL graduates
The figures refer to the graduates in 2022.
Their employability is generally very good. In fact, 93% of the graduates are actively employed, 11% do a PhD and 8% continue their studies.
68% of former students sign their work contract before they obtain their diploma.
Internships and internet are the best means to find employment.
Among the graduates in active employment, 79% have a permanent contract (CDI) in France, 7% are employed abroad, and 1.3% made the decision to create their own company or take over a business.
Companies, sectors and job descriptions
64% of graduates are hired in large and very large companies and 36% in the small and medium-sized (PME) and very small firms. 94% are part of the managerial staff or have executive status. 39% have management responsibility and 65% are responsible for projects.
37% of the graduates work in industry with 14% in the chemistry and parachemical industries and about 30% do research and development work in scientific and technical studies.
The mean gross annual salary moyen of a graduate is 39 200 euros.
